Long:

The actor, director and artist Florian REICHL launched an international theatre project “Viele Gruesse, Michael Kohlhaas!”, based on premiering Frieder SCHULLERs play, written in 1977 and prohibited in 1978 in then Communist Romania. The ancient story of Michael Kohlhaas and his self-made campaign of vengeance leaves often more questions than it provides answers. Is there a right to rage and revenge? Is there a point, when self empowerment is getting something “bad”, and for whom, or is it just dangerous and could be handled at any point? What is behind terrorism? Are there ways to prevent terrorism from breaking out? Can respect and loving care deal with despair? The border as THE central place for misinterpretation and conflict is the big recurring main theme. The gap between hedonism and real love, shown in a play by 15 Austrian artists all around Europe. The wish to inspire people to cross their own borders, to overcome their own fears. Maybe more than a play, maybe a movement? A celebration of the privileges we have? WE CROSS THE BORDERS, WHILE WE CAN. BECAUSE WE CAN.
